1. Who We Are

EscapeWork is a software company based in India. We build and sell SwiftDeck, a Microsoft PowerPoint add-in. This Privacy Policy covers the SwiftDeck desktop add-in, the escapework.in website, and our backend API and license management infrastructure.

2. Data We Collect

From the website (escapework.in):

Email address — when you submit a trial request, contact form, or make a purchase
Messages submitted via contact forms
Page views and interaction events — collected via Google Analytics 4 (see Section 5)

From the SwiftDeck add-in:

Email address — used to issue and manage your license or trial
License key — used to activate and validate your subscription
Machine fingerprint — a one-way hash derived from hardware identifiers, used to bind your license to one machine (see Section 6)
Anonymous feature usage events — feature name and add-in version only; no user identifier (see Section 7)
Server-side error diagnostics — captured by Sentry when our API encounters an exception (see Section 4)

What we do NOT collect:

The contents of your PowerPoint files or presentations
Keystrokes, clipboard content, or screen captures
Precise location data

3. How We Use Your Data

License management: issuing, activating, validating, and deactivating your license
Trial management: issuing trial keys and enforcing the 14-day limit
Communication: sending your license key, renewal reminders, and support responses
Product improvement: understanding which features are used most, via anonymous telemetry only
Infrastructure reliability: monitoring and diagnosing server errors
Marketing measurement: understanding which pages and campaigns drive trial signups and purchases

4. Third-Party Data Processors

We share data with the following services only as described below. Each is bound by their own privacy policy and applicable data protection law.

Supabase (database)
Stores email addresses, license keys, machine fingerprint hashes, trial keys, anonymous usage events, and lockout records. Infrastructure is hosted on AWS. supabase.com/privacy

Vercel (API infrastructure)
Hosts our backend API at swift-deck.vercel.app. Vercel may log request metadata including IP addresses for security and operational purposes. Request bodies are not retained by Vercel beyond request processing. vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy

Lemon Squeezy (international payments)
Processes payments for customers outside India. Lemon Squeezy acts as Merchant of Record and collects your name, email, billing address, and payment details directly. They share only order confirmation and email with us to issue your license key. Your payment details are never stored by EscapeWork. lemonsqueezy.com/privacy

Razorpay (India payments)
Processes payments for customers in India. Razorpay collects name, email, phone number, and payment method details directly. Your payment details are handled by Razorpay and are not stored by EscapeWork. We receive only your email and order confirmation to issue your license key. razorpay.com/privacy

Sentry (error monitoring)
Captures server-side errors in our backend API. Sentry receives the URL path, HTTP method, and error stack trace of failed requests. It does not receive license keys, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information from request bodies. Operated by Functional Software, Inc. sentry.io/privacy

Google Analytics 4 (website analytics)
Collects anonymized data about how visitors use escapework.in, including page views, button clicks, and conversion events (trial signups and purchases). IP addresses are anonymized. No personally identifiable information is linked to analytics data. policies.google.com/privacy

5. Cookies

The escapework.in website uses:

Essential cookies — required for the website to function
Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics 4 to count visits and track interactions; anonymized and do not identify you personally

The SwiftDeck desktop add-in does not use cookies.

6. Machine Fingerprint

SwiftDeck enforces a one-machine-at-a-time license limit. To do this, we compute a machine fingerprint — a one-way hash derived from your Windows machine GUID, user SID, motherboard serial number, and a per-machine cryptographic salt. The raw identifiers are never transmitted or stored; only the resulting hash is sent to our servers and stored alongside your license key.

The fingerprint is used solely to verify the Software is running on your authorized machine. If you reinstall Windows or replace significant hardware, the fingerprint will change and may trigger a temporary lockout. To resolve fingerprint issues, contact support@escapework.in.

7. Anonymous Feature Usage Analytics

SwiftDeck sends anonymous usage events to help us understand which features are most useful. Each event contains only:

Feature name (e.g., "Align Left", "Same Width")
Add-in version number

Events do not contain your email, license key, machine fingerprint, IP address, or any other identifier. No user profiles are built. Data is stored in Supabase and is never shared with third parties. To opt out, contact support@escapework.in and we will provide an opt-out build.

8. Data Retention

License and activation records: retained for the life of your license plus 1 year, to support renewal, deactivation, and disputes
Trial records: retained indefinitely to enforce the one-trial-per-email-per-machine limit
Contact form messages: retained until the support matter is resolved, then deleted within 90 days
Anonymous usage events: raw events retained for up to 12 months; aggregated data retained indefinitely
Sentry error records: subject to Sentry's own retention policies (typically 90 days)

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your data (subject to our obligation to retain license records for the period above)
Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, email support@escapework.in with the subject "Data Request". We will respond within 30 days. Note that deleting your data will deactivate your license — contact us before requesting deletion if you have an active subscription.

10. Children's Privacy

SwiftDeck is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of SwiftDeck or escapework.in after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
